That’s when the Town sets up a special day to pick up all those broken branches that fell into our yards… and all you need to do is set them out at the curb.

Vienna’s storm debris pick up day is September 6, 2011

Hurricane Irene’s wind and rain were severe in Vienna and the Town luckily escaped better than expected. Unfortunately, one of my neighbors had a tree fall on her Vienna rambler.

Special debris pick-ups might not seem like anything new to Vienna residents, but if you are a home buyer then you may be interested especially when you see that homes within the Town limits pay higher property taxes. Since residents of the Town of Vienna pay an additional property tax, above the property tax paid to Fairfax County, public services like “special storm debris pick-ups” demonstrate how that tax money is used to improve the quality of life here.

UPDATED for 2011

If you live in the Town of Vienna, VA or anywhere in Fairfax County, then you will be paying a $33 per vehicle license tax in 2010. Motorcycles will be $18. Residents should be getting these bills sometime during November, 2011.

Don’t miss the payment deadline, there is a $25 penalty fee!

Town of Vienna Residents Click Here Now

Sorry, you won’t get a vehicle decal…

Residents used to pay an annual “decal fee” until 2008 when it was abolished. The reinstatement of this tax in 2010, due to the economic downturn, is to generate revenue for Fairfax County. But, since Vienna is a town, the tax proceeds that Fairfax County has imposed are allowed to be collected by the Town of Vienna and applied to its own budget shortfall.

The 2011 Real Estate tax rate was announced in June.
